What the @#$! is Social Media: One Year Later

Within the medium of social media itself, this is the dead horse nobody ever stops beating, so I never started. Far more interesting is localization of digital media (and more importantly, data), but that's apparently still too far ahead for most. Look for it to be the next big thing. Permanently.

Still I suppose there ought to be at least one what-is-social-media-and-why-should-I-care primer on this site, in case someone is stumbling around looking for some entertaining insight. Here you go.
