New Local Media's logos were designed by Deep Sea Studios, whom I highly recommend for all your graphic design needs. (Deep Sea also did our Cream Citizen logos.)
The Milwaukee photos you seen in rotation here come from the creative commons of Flickr users. (They stretch out to 1858px wide for the benefit of superwide screens.) Other than my own contributions, these photos' origins are mainly in the intriguing eye of Michael Pereckas, plus a few others from uber urbanist Jeramey Jannene and Scott Feldstein.
Previously I've used photos from these other Milwaukee folks, and I may do so again in the future: Chad Davis, Crazy Egg, Indy Kethdy, Kris Kables, Katie Tegtmeyer, Adam Lautenbach, Michael Hicks, Purple Slog, Seth Anderson, Kitchaboy, Jennifer Whetzel, and Your Girl in Milwaukee. Some of their work can be seen brightening up Cream Citizen.
The Joomla! template currently in use is a modified version of the mysterious Axel Wehner's "68 Portal," one of the 2007 Joomla 1.5 template contest finalists. 68 Portal was one of the first, proper Joomla 1.5 templates. It demonstrated most of the best things that can be done, designwise, on the Joomla 1.5 publishing and application framework, as of January 2008.
